Description
Kumo (meaning “cloud” in Japanese) is a modern and vibrant nine-colour needlepoint kit inspired by animations, dreams, and a love of colours and shapes. With its airy palette and playful forms, it offers a fresh, uplifting stitching experience. The recommended Basketweave Tent Stitch provides excellent coverage and a smooth, flowing rhythm—perfect whether worked on a frame or in hand.
Designed and made in England, the kit features a full-colour design printed directly onto premium 12hpi Zweigart canvas using eco-friendly, water-based inks. The colour palette combines soft cream and warm gold backgrounds with cloud-like shapes outlined in palest peach and filled with dusky lilac, candy pink, burnt orange, two shades of green—lime and fern—and a vibrant flash of crimson red.
Stitching Style: Basketweave Tent Stitch
We recommend using Basketweave Tent Stitch for this kit—a classic, high-coverage stitch known for its strength and even, polished finish. Worked diagonally across the canvas in a zigzag pattern on the reverse, it helps prevent distortion and keeps your canvas square. This technique produces a dense, refined surface ideal for cushions or framed pieces.
Since Basketweave Tent Stitch fills both sides of the canvas, it builds a beautiful new layer of textile that’s durable, tactile, and long-lasting. Full instructions for this stitch—and alternatives like Half Cross or Continental Tent Stitch—are included, so you can choose the method that works best for you.
